If you’re an iPhone user you don’t want to have to fork out £15 if you ever find yourself in need of a new USB adaptor, so finding one for a quid might seem like an absolute bargain. But London Fire Brigade is telling people to avoid these discount chargers because they’re a serious fire risk.
As we’ve seen before cheap/fake chargers are usually poorly made and have a tendency to overheat. According to fire investigator Andrew Vaughan-Davies there have been a number of near misses with discount chargers over the past few months, and he warns that it’s only a matter of time before one of these fires proves fatal.
