Liquid-cooled Cloud TPU v3 pods can deliver more than 100 petaflops of computing power. Conversely, Cloud TPU v2 pods released in alpha last year can achieve 11.5 petaflops.

Google releases AI training data set with 5 million images and 200,000 landmarks

In a significant step toward its goal of more sophisticated landmark-detecting computer vision models, Google open-sourced Google-Landmarks-v2, a new, larger landmark recognition corpus containing twice as many photos and seven times as many landmarks.

Google completes subsea cable to Chile

Alphabet Inc’s Google has completed a subsea cable linking the coast of California to Chile, a key step in its plans to bolster its global cloud computing infrastructure.

Google’s Cloud Services Platform is now Anthos, and it works with AWS and Azure

Anthos is the new name for the Cloud Services Platform, which Google introduced in beta for hybrid cloud management last year. Google also introduced Anthos Migrate in beta for portability across clouds without the need to modify apps or virtual machines.
